Michelle Jahnke for Gold Dust Cottage
A more personal idea of home.
I’m Michelle Jahnke, the voice behind A Little More Home.
I’m drawn to Nigerian warmth and Nordic order, to bright rooms on rainy Pacific Northwest days and coffee worth sitting down for.

Following what feels like me.
I once looked to minimalism for a sense of ease. I still love white walls and a clear counter. Over time, I’ve become more willing to give the things I love a visible place: expressive art, warm wood, textiles with meaning and cups chosen for the mood of the day.
That freedom comes with a practical question: does this make the room better to live in? The chair needs to be comfortable. The table needs to be useful. I want to enjoy what surrounds me without spending the whole day looking after it.
Make yourself comfortable.
A Little More Home follows that balance through rooms and everyday rituals. There is space for a dramatic painting and an ordinary afternoon, for a creative project and somewhere to put everything when you’re done.
I hope these pages help you notice what already belongs in your home. Sometimes the next step is buying something you’ll love. Sometimes it is moving a lamp or finally hanging the picture you’ve kept wrapped up. Your own habits and affections are a good place to begin.
